Tom DeVore Agrees with Federal Court Judge Dismissal of Robert Cruz Case

A federal judge recently dismissed a lawsuit brought on by Oak Lawn Rob Cruz, who sits on the board of Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 and a Republican Congressional Candidate. The suit sought to overturn Gov. JB Pritzker’s school mask mandates under federal law.

The Cook County Record inaccurately reports, “Cruz has been represented in the action by attorney Steven M. Wallace, of the Silver Lake Legal Group, of downstate Glen Carbon.”

Attorney Thomas DeVore, of Silver Lake Group, Ltd. stated, “Steve Wallace is an excellent attorney; however, he is no longer employed by Silver Lake Group, Ltd. and Mr. Wallace decided to take this case on himself even though DeVore believed procedurally and substantively the case had shortcomings.  Thomas DeVore believes the U. S. District Judge’s dismissal of this case as plead had merit. This decision has absolutely no legal significance on the upcoming cases in state court.”
